In-district Transfer Request Windows

In-district Transfer Request Windows

The window for submitting an in-district transfer is now open. The window is December 9 through January 31. We will notify families of a transfer decision by March 2.

In-district transfer requests are approved if space is available and the request meets one of the selected transfer categories. Categories include childcare circumstances, continuation after a move, hardship, staying with siblings, dual language program attendance or Highline employee assignment. Please see Procedure 3132 for more information on transfer categories.

Transportation is not provided to in-district transfer students unless otherwise stated. See specifics in our transfer procedure.

There will be a second transfer application window from April 6 to May 22. Families are waitlisted from the first window to the second if they’ve met the category criteria but space availability has not been determined. Second window transfer decisions will be made by June 30.

If families did not meet the criteria of the selected category during the first transfer window, but their selected category has since changed, they can submit a new request form during the second window.

You can submit an in-district transfer request through our website.

Schools of Choice

The admissions process for our four application schools (Raisbeck Aviation HS, Big Picture, CHOICE Academy, and International Baccalaureate at Mount Rainier High School) has not changed. The application window for application schools is January 1 through January 31, 2020.

Non-resident Transfer Requests

We will consider non-resident transfer requests (from families living outside Highline boundaries) after in-district transfers have been processed in the first and second transfer window. The non-resident transfer request window will open from July 13 to August 1, 2020.
