He Traded His NBA Dreams for Even Bigger Aspirations

He Traded His NBA Dreams for Even Bigger Aspirations

The son of an educator, Tremain Holloway grew up wanting to be anything but a teacher.

“I actually tried to run away from education. I had this vision and dream that I was going be a NBA basketball player,” shares Tremain. But his dreams came crashing down when he broke his leg his senior year of high school.

After realizing the NBA may not be in his future, Tremain thought about what his mom always said: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a great thing to invest.” He decided to pursue a degree in education.

As the founding principal at Maritime High School, Tremain finds at least one similarity between principals and professional athletes: both have the power to positively impact young people. And that is exactly what motivates Tremain each and every day.
