A report card communicates your child’s learning progress during the grading period. All Highline elementary schools use standards-based grading, and scores reflect how students are progressing toward grade-level standards.
How to Find Your Child’s Report Card
Report cards are available digitally through ParentVUE.
Elementary report cards are now available in the Report Card section of ParentVUE. They will also continue to be available in the Documents section during this transition.
In the future, elementary report cards will be available in the Report Card section only.

About Standards-Based Grading
All Highline elementary schools use standards-based grading, which measures how well students are learning specific grade-level standards. Instead of traditional letter grades, you’ll see scores from 1 to 4 that show your child’s progress:
- X: Not evaluated at this time because it has not yet been covered in class
- 1: Beginning to understand
- 2: Making progress
- 3: Meeting the standard
- 4: Exceeding the standard
This approach focuses on learning over time, not just single assignments.
Understanding End-of-Year Scores
Because this is the final report card of the school year, scores show how your student is performing on end-of-year standards.
A score of 3 means your student is meeting the standard. A score of 4 means your student is exceeding the standard.
If your student receives a 1 or 2, they are still building the skills or understanding connected to that standard. Review teacher comments for more information about your student’s progress and next steps.
